New components
We are pleased to announce the release of two new components to the Maersk Design System:
Badge component
Badge is our new lightweight component designed draws attention to UI elements to highlight new notifications, updates or counts without overwhelming the user.
The component can be pinned to to a parent UI element or placed inline. It comes with four appearances and a “dot” variant.
Progress Indicator component
The new Progress Indicator helps users manage their expectations during a known-duration task. It’s perfect for showing task progression and completion percentages.
Similar to the Loading Indicator there are two variants (ring and bar) that can be used depending on available space, user expectations, and context.
Layout system is now production-ready
After being in our MDS Experiments section since December 2024, we’re thrilled to announce that our Layout system is now production-ready!
The layout system provides a standardised framework for constructing responsive application interfaces with consistent navigation patterns. It includes:
- Top bar component for global navigation and actions
- Side bar component for primary navigation
- Page area for content with proper spacing and responsiveness
- Tree navigation for hierarchical menu structures
This marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide comprehensive design and development tools for creating cohesive Maersk digital experiences.
Q2 2025 ambitions published
In case you missed it, we’ve published our Q2 2025 ambitions. Key focus areas include:
- Updated Maersk themes to support All The Way brand refresh
- Adding search capability to Select and Multi-Select components
- Enhancing Typeahead to support multiple selections
- A Date/Time component
- Improving the UX of the Calendar / Input Date component
- Revisit our Table based UX and out the box features
