MDS Assistant is an experiment.
Hi, I'm the MDS Assistant and can help you with information from our guidelines and components.

Accordion and Experiments refresher

We've adopted the Community UI accordion into MDS and a quick refresher on MDS Experiments.

Accordion joins MDS from Community UI

We’re pleased to share that the Accordion component has now been officially adopted into the Maersk Design System from the Community UI library. This move reflects our ongoing effort to bring well-tested, high-value community contributions into the core design system.

The Accordion component offers a practical way to organize and display information efficiently. It allows users to expand and collapse content sections, ideal for FAQs, product details, settings panels, or any interface where space matters and clarity is key.

What this means for you

  • Full MDS support for designers and developers:
The component now aligns with all MDS standards and guidelines.
  • Accessibility compliance:
Improved accessibility features based on WCAG guidelines, including enhanced keyboard navigation and ARIA roles and attributes.
  • Documentation:
Clear usage guidelines and examples are available.

If you’ve been using the Community UI version, we recommend switching to the MDS version to benefit from these updates and ensure long-term support.

MDS Experiments

What are MDS Experiments?

If you’re new to our design system or just need a refresher, MDS Experiments are our way of testing and validating new components, patterns, and features before they’re added to the core system. They offer insight into how we approach future additions to the Maersk Design System.

Current experiments across the design system

We have experiments spanning multiple areas of the design system:

Component experiments:

Guidelines and best practices:

  • AI design guidelines:
Supporting the design of meaningful, safe, and trusted AI product experiences.

How to get involved

We encourage you to explore our experimental features and share your feedback. Your input helps us decide which experiments should become stable components and which need further refinement.

Experimental features will change or be removed based on feedback and testing, so use them thoughtfully in production environments.
